Pacific to Atlantic 7 Days 6 NightsPackage description: Day 1: 8:00 a.m. Transport from Granada or Managua to Rama. Visiting the villages of Boaco and Juigalpa. Boaco is set on two adjacent high plains in the midst of the cattle ranching area. It is famous for its delicious white cheeses produced in the region. This is the main source of income for the area, which also produces rice, coffee, henequen fiber and other basic crops. Juigalpa is a small dynamic city. We will visit the Archaeological Museum Gregorio Aguilar, which has a very important collection of ceramics, pre-Columbian utensils and statues, of which there are two enormous idols more than four meters height (the biggest of Central America). Also, the museum exhibits antique colonial and postcolonial artifacts. From Juigalpa we will drive to Rama where we will check in at the eco hotel El Vivero. Day 2: The journey from here will be mostly by boat or “Panga” as it is called in the Caribbean. We will get on the big river “Escondido” to cruise down to Orinoco, a rustic Garifuna village on the North shore of the Pearl Lagoon. We will enjoy the amazing flora and fauna, and birders will think they are in heaven, there are no cars or roads! We will learn about the Garifuna community, its history, culture and daily life, and spend the night at the Garifuna Hostal. Day3: Today we will, for the first time, head out in the open sea to visit the amazingly beautiful Pearl Key Islands. These islands possess all the features common to the Caribbean: white sand beaches, turquoise water, and green palm trees. Afterwards we will boat to the Nicaraguan capital of the Caribbean, Bluefields, and check in at our hotel. Day 4: In the morning we will tour the city of Bluefields. Bluefields dates back to the year 1602, which makes the city the oldest on the Caribbean coast of Nicaragua. The city was born as a refuge for pirates and English merchants who used the surrounding area to hide or refuel before continuing their oceanic expeditions. 1:00 p.m. Lunch at Restaurant La Loma 2:30 p.m. Transport to Airport 3:00 p.m. Flight to Corn Islands 3:00 p.m. Check in at our hotel.
